As Global Design Director there is always a balance of upholding Brand Standards and what is simply subjective design taste. I created a review process that was simple. The first response category listed items that must change to meet our standards and included a reference back to the Int'l Design Guide. The next category was recommendations, things my review team saw that they believed would improve the flow or design. Our follow up was on the required items, but it was always nice to see a few of the recommendations adopted.
The first few fresh shops are great examples of the results from that process. The Franchises knew what was needed and could move at a rapid pace, which allowed both of us to achieve our growth goals.
