The memorabilia in the BWW Cumberland Remodel was put together by two special groups: Kevin Stewart of Collection Connection and Jeff and Allison Marr of Frame Time, Inc. Sadly, Kevin passed away unexpectedly in a motorcycle accident.
Kevin was in that less than 1% of folks who are incredibly passionate about their craft. A designer at heart, he poured everything into helping bring someone else's vision to life. The challenge BWW gave him was to tell the stories of 'Stadiums' in a restaurant being remodeled near the newly opened Battery in Atlanta, GA. The restaurant's first large feature wall would tell the Braves' story. It would do so through the lens of five ballparks that the Braves have played in over their history all the way back to Milwaukee . Kevin dug through that history, selected the images, and wrote the small synopsis for each of the boards (see example in the images). He did so for all five Atlanta stadiums, as well as Phillips Arena and Mercedes Benz Stadium. It was perfect and seamless without the need for countless proofs and revisions. These are custom to the location, reviving stories, many forgotten, but flawlessly executed.
Kevin would normally call me between 6 and 7 pm. I picked up the phone every time. He knew we needed to catch up, but was always amazingly gracious and would ask a couple of times if he was disturbing my evening and if we should set up a call for another time. As I reflect, I picked up the phone not because the work needed to get done (it did), but because it was Kevin, and because I enjoyed hearing that authentic passion ringing in my ears.
I miss Kevin. He has made an indelible mark on me and many others and gives a goal for all of us to strive for. Please reach out and connect with all the folks that inspire you. Let them know, as none of us are promised tomorrow.
